Colonel Jojan Thomas born on 22nd May, 1965 in Kuttoor Village of Thiruvalla District,in the state of Kerala  and martyred on  August 22, 2008 Kupwara district .He was the part of  Jat Regiment and 45 Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army serving as Military Officer.  His father was also a military man Late captain P.A.Thomos.

He was ordered from the Officers Training Academy, of Chennai in March 1986. On 22nd  August 2008, he guided an operation against terrorists in the forests of Macchal sector in Kupwara district in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. During the operation, he killed three terrorists, but got injured with several gunshot wounds and yield to injuries. To appreciate his contribution towards the nation, he was later awarded with the Ashok Chakra, the highest peace time military decoration in India.
