Lance Naik Nazir Ahmad Wani, was one of the brave soldier of our Indian Army and he was the part of  Jammu and Kashmir of the Indian army force. He was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra, India’s highest peacetime military decoration, in January 2019. He was the first recipient of the Ashok Chakra award from Kashmir region of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Nazir joined 162 Indian Armed force, a the Indian Armed Force of the ranks of Jammu and Kashmir, in 2004. He was honoured and appreciated with Sena medal in 2007 for his courageous behavior and again  in 2018 he was awared with Sena Medal, for killing a terrorist in close combat. He was part in several major counter-insurgency operations of our Indian Army in which top terrorists were either arrested or encountered. As disclosed information from one of his family member, Wani had killed around thirty terrorists including some major terrorists.

At the time of his death, Wani’s battalion, 162 artillery, which was attached to the 34th artillery, and Rashtriya Rifles while conducting counter-insurgency operations.

On 26 November, 2018 Wani’s body was taken Chak Ashmuji, where his family is residing, wrapped in the Indian flag. The funeral ceremony was attended by near about 500–600 people. Moreover, Wani was accorded a 21 gun salute and with proper form according to his religion his body was lowered into his grave.

Nazir is happily married soldier to Mahajabeen who a teacher  by profession and they two sons, Athar and Shaid. The Hindu reported that “Wani comes from a working-class background and had served the people of the underprivileged section in his village and near-by area.

One of his dearones said that, Wani had always motivated all of us to make happy to other people around us and spread happiness and joy , also to help and resolve their problems…. He was always willing to make his battalion to feel proud. For him, duty was his first priority. All his gestures were and are a source of inspiration for all people in their area and community.
